Today marks the “4 days to go” mark for the wedding. Frankly, I don’t get the hoopla about “OMG! It’s the best day of your life!”. From my personal wedding planning experience, weddings are nothing but a pain in the tush. From budget, planning, sourcing, shopping, transport, food to the final bill… EVERYTHING sucks. If it was up to me, I don’t want to do any of it. I think I mentioned before, if it was up to me, I’d go to City Hall and sign a piece of paper and call it a day. No more than $200 in cost. I mean, what’s the big deal? After years of living together the law considers you married anyway. The only reason why I chose to be married was so I have the option to use whichever last name without the system getting a hold of my finger prints. Now to think about it, a formal name change would’ve been quicker.

I am less excited about the “big day” than I am frustrated. Everyone seems to have their own idea about how the day should be and even at the 4 day mark keeps feeding me ideas of how things “should be done”. While I agree the “should be” would be great, I also have rent to deal with at the end of the month. Meanwhile, everyone else gets to eat, drink, be merry and then leave. Rent? Who cares! The only thing I’m excited about at this point, is getting the wedding over and done with so I will NEVER have to do this again. If you haven’t noticed, this whole wedding business removes me from doing any of my other hobbies like exercising, TKD, cosplay, sewing… Everything is being sunk into this one day. A one day that in the grand scheme of things, will be just like any other day.

That being said, a few of my girl friends who lives closer to me have all offered their assistance and that’s been a huge help. Hopefully the day will go by smoothly.
