I’ve been buying sterling silver rings from Fantasy Jewellery Box for awhile now but I’ve always found their selection drastically dwindles when it comes to the smaller sizes. My ring finger is a size 3.5/4 and that size don’t seem that easy to find when it comes to cheap jewellery.
So when I searched and found Berricle (what a weird name) I was stoked to see they had a specific section for small rings. After double checking that they shipped to Canada, I ordered a wedding set for me and my fiance. I chose to go the cheap rings route because 1) I am cheap and I can’t fathom spending thousands on a ring I likely will lose because 2) I am clumsy. My fiance has already lost the first wedding band we had got. So, I’m incredibly happy that it wasn’t something expensive. 3) I want a mortgage first.
First of all, the shipping was BLAZING fast. I placed the order May 30 in the afternoon PST and it arrived in my mailbox Jun 6 by noon. (The tracking said it arrived Jun 5 which caused me to panic as I thought I had lost it.) That’s less than a week for shipping from the East coast to West coast, internationally!
Everything is very well packaged and much better packaging than FJB. My rings from FJB came in a small black cardboard box with silver lettering on top and just a wad of cotton inside. It’s not a flip box either.
From Berricle, first thing you see when you open the box is the nice tissue paper they decided to include (FJB’s box came in a bubble envelope).
Each ring is then packaged in its own very professional looking box
Removing the protective cardboard you get two incredibly nice textured jewellery box
and yes they flip open like any box you would get at a real jewellery store.
Inside of the box is lined with simulated lamb leather (very soft texture and plushy to the touch).
The rings themselves are very good quality too. About the same shininess as the FJB ring I had gotten before. I will update as I wear it more to see how it holds up.
The Tungsten band is darker in colour but very polished. The ring reflects so much light the camera can barely focus.
Just as a side by side comparison, the single stone ring is the one I got at FJB. I have been wearing that ring for over a year on a daily basis and I don’t take it off unless I’m having a shower. So I will cook, do dishes and all that good jazz. It’s held up the shine pretty well. There are obvious scratches on it when you look closely but it doesn’t affect the shine at all.
A word of warning that silver does tarnish when exposed to chemicals (duh), and will turn black. The few times I went swimming with my old ring, it went black (darker than the Tungsten) but returned to its silver colour in a couple of days. But, if you care about your ring more than I do then you should probably limit its exposure to chemicals. That includes any hair removing cream… those things are killer.
Also, the ring from Berricle has much nicer stone settings. Stones are very tight and nicely fitted together. The ring I had gotten from FJB the stone slides around in the channel setting as there are gaps. While it didn’t pose a huge issue it was a bit annoying.
Here’s just a look at the underside of the ring to show you how scratched up my old ring is. When it came it was shiny like the new one but in a year’s time it’s pretty dinged up. That being said, it’s still a very nice silver colour.
Overall, the expericen with Berricle has been great.
